Oil on canvas painting mounted on masonite is a bust portrait of Anna Ware Sabine, the wife of Hylas Sabine. She is shown as a young woman with dark brown hair wearing a green wrap. The portrait is in an oval gilt frame with glass glazing. The portrait is unsigned, but attributed to Joseph Oriel Eaton.

"Annie" was the wife of Hylas Sabine, a state senator from Union County, Ohio. She was born in September of 1835 to Joseph R. Ware of Mechanicsburg, Ohio. She and Hylas Sabine were married October 8th, 1857. Their son, Wallace, was the first man to build a symphony hall (in Boston) in which engineering principles were used to assure good acoustics. The Sabines also had a daughter, Annie Ware Sabine Siebert. A portrait of Hylas Sabine was also done by Joseph Oriel Eaton (H 27424). ...
